My background…
Born in France, Leon graduated from the Baccalaureate Literary series with High-Honours in 2017. Its syllabus mostly comprised of languages, philosophy, and cinema studies, motivated his interest in polylingual writing for the screen. As such, he went on to complete in 2020 an undergraduate degree in Film and TV production at the University of York. While growing familiar with most aspects of filmmaking, Leon was then still trying to find his personal artistic style. Through his following year at the London Film School Screenwriting master, he found himself on the path to complete his first independent short film – which he wrote, produced, and directed himself. A year after its completion, Leon is now doing scientific research at the Laval University in Quebec, looking to achieve innovative ways of writing new character types for the screen. This anthropologic research is largely motivated by his own background as a transgender filmmaker, which centres his creative and academic interests around gender studies and the investigation of gender roles and performativity within social spaces.
